Chapter Five

Moist lips were touching his own, pressing down on it, giving Lelouch a sweet and simple kiss.

These lips…they…feel familiar…who is it?

The ex-prince felt nostalgic about those lips. It seemed as if he had kissed this person not too long ago. The first time that Lelouch had ever kissed someone was…

Suzaku!

Finally, it clicked. Suzaku had kissed him earlier this morning, and that was the reason that he had felt that the kiss was familiar. However; Suzaku had said that it was accidental…so why was he doing this now?

Lelouch was absolutely sure that it was no one other than the Japanese boy. He was tempted to open his eyes, but didn’t want to get into a tight situation.

The stranger parted his lips from Lelouch and lifted their head back to peer down at the sleeping beauty. He looked so peaceful.

He could feel that the figure was watching him and it made Lelouch uncomfortable. Praying, he hoped for the person to hurry up and leave so that he could take a peek to see who it is. As if his wishes were granted, Lelouch heard rustling noises and the shoes hitting against the ground softly.

Once he heard footsteps getting fainter and fainter, Lelouch slowly lifted one of his eyelids up and turned his attention towards the door.

…S-Suzaku…

The ex-prince was correct. Suzaku was the one who had snuck in and kissed him. The Japanese was dressed in his school uniform. He must have skipped PE.

Lelouch was at a lost. Those same questions appeared once again. Why would Suzaku kiss him? And if he had done this secretly, did that mean this morning’s kiss was not accidental at all? The boy felt frustrated about the situation and sighed loudly. Roughly, he sat up straight on the sofa and pressed his fingers against the bridge of his nose.

“Suzaku…why?” Lelouch whispered to himself in the empty student council room.

Right when Lelouch had arrived back home, he had been thinking about the kiss non-stop. While he was eating, having small chat with Nunally, or handling the Black Knight issues, the Japanese was always on his mind. No matter how much he tried to push the thought away, it kept coming back.

Seated on his bed, Lelouch leaned his back against the wall and stared out of the window. Night was approaching, and the ex-prince was still pondering about Suzaku and his kiss. There were too many unanswered questions swimming through his mind.

Letting out a heavy sigh, the boy leaned to the right, tipping his body until the weight forced him to fall onto the bed. With a loud plop, Lelouch laid on his side. His black silky hair became disheveled and hair strands scattered across his cheek.

Closing his eyes, Lelouch attempted to try and sleep. That would help to clear his mind of any thoughts. However, he was interrupted by a knock at the door.

“Lelouch?” The voice of his crush sounded from behind the thick door.

“Suzaku?” Lelouch called out his name naturally and pushed himself up into a sitting position.

The door slid open and in came Suzaku, dressed in casual clothes. The boy caught sight of his friend on the bed.

“Did I bother you?” The Japanese questioned.

Shaking his head, Lelouch muttered a no. Suzaku let out a sigh, relieved that he hadn’t woken the boy from his slumber. If he did, he would have felt pretty horrible about it.

“So, Suzaku, why are you here so late?” Lelouch questioned, situating himself into a more comfortable position. He sat on his bottom and leaned his back against the wall. Placing his attention on the Japanese boy, he waited for him to answer the question.

The brunet dragged his feet loudly against the ground and approached Lelouch until he was standing in front of him.

“Hm, I just wanted to talk…about Euphy,” Suzaku said and lowered himself down onto the mattress. The two were only about one foot away from each other. Lelouch’s bed wasn’t that big.

The Britannian was surprised to hear Euphy’s name. He didn’t want to hear Suzaku tell him about their date, but being a good friend, he nodded his head.

“Ok,” Lelouch said. Sliding his legs up, he pressed them against his chest and wrapped his arms around his shin.

“You told me that I should straighten out my feelings first right?” Suzaku started.

The black-haired slowly nodded his head. “And…what was your conclusion…?” Lelouch asked in a soft tone. He was scared to hear the truth about Suzaku’s feelings. The kiss earlier might have been something special, but when the boy kept thinking about it, how could his friend possibly like him? And not to mention, he’s a boy. It was impossible.

“Hm…” Suzaku hummed and titled his head to the side, thinking for a moment.

Why is he thinking? I thought he already knew…just say it Suzaku…I’m prepared…

“I…” The green-eyed boy began. He was speaking so slow that Lelouch wanted to smack him and make him spit it out.

“I…don’t like Euphy,” Suzaku finally finished his sentence.

“Ah…I thought so…” Lelouch started and averted his eyes to the side, but when those words sunk into his mind, he jerked his head upright. Surprised purple eyes met with green ones and his mouth fell ajar.

“W-what?” Lelouch asked. “Y-you said you don’t like Euphy? A-are you sure?” Lelouch was stuttering. He had difficultly saying what he wanted to say due to the shock he was in. The boy was sure that his friend had feelings for the princess, but it seems like he was wrong.

“Yes I’m sure. I really don’t have those kinds of feelings for her,” Suzaku said and chuckled. “You seem so surprised. Did it seem like I liked her?”

“Yes!” Lelouch didn’t even have to think about the answer to that question and answered right away.

Suzaku laughed again. “I see. I guess it does. Euphy may still have feelings for me, even though I rejected her, but there’s nothing between us,” The Japanese explained.

Their date today was only really an outing for them to clear up any misunderstandings and set things straight.

So…he doesn’t like Euphy at all. Then…that kiss! What about that kiss! What was it for?!

Suzaku watched Lelouch as his eyes wandered around. He was confused out of his mind and the Japanese could sense what the reason was. Smirking, he stretched an arm out and touched the boy’s hand that was resting on top of his shin.

“Lelouch…don’t you want to know who I like?” Suzaku asked and inched closer and closer towards the Britannian who seemed to be unaware of where this was going.

“N-no…” Lelouch answered nervously and shook his head. The question caught him by surprise.

I do…

Suzaku could tell that his friend was lying. Reaching over with his right hand, Suzaku’s long fingers brushed gently past Lelouch’s cheeks and dove into his hair, entangling themselves with the silky strands.

“Take a wild guess,” Suzaku said with a smile and sealed Lelouch’s lips with a kiss before he could say anything.
